 Mark O'Leary Paul Motian

Mark O'Leary recorded White Album on TIBProd Italy with Paul Motian

A friend of Mark's knew Arlo Guthrie and contacted someone in Arlo's

entourage and Paul's telephone number materialized. So began an

epic voyage to New York into the hallowed world of Paul Motian.

Mark met Paul Motian adjacent the Dakota building of Lennon/Ono lore,

they spent two days recording White Album and became great friends.

There was even the possibility of Mark joining Motian's band this was

discussed. Paul started as a guitarist before becoming a drummer and

Mark and Paul discussed this at length, Mark also mentioned he used

to be in a Synth Pop band performing Depeche Mode material, Paul

had never heard of Depeche Mode, it was a learning curve and Paul

laughed, Paul also told Mark how he loved Gene Vincent and even when

he was in the Bill Evans trio he had a guitar under his bed and would sit

on the corner of his bed emulating Gene Vincent, spending most time in

the cab ride from Brooklyn to the Dakota building laughing and regaling in

tales, Mark intimates he was incredibly fortunate to have recorded with

Paul Motian and is incredibly fortunate to have played with such an iconic

figure as Motian.
